The Advent Wreath

​

The Wreath is a circular garland of evergreen branches.

​

The circle representing God’s love, having no beginning and no end.

​

The evergreen representing continuity, God, the source of life.

​

There are three purple candles and one pink candle on the wreath with a white candle in the centre.

​

The colour purple is the colour of penance but also a royal colour for our King.

​

Pink is for rejoicing and white for the birth of Jesus.

​

Each candle represents a week of Advent.  Each week we light another candle on the wreath and on Christmas Day we light the White candle.
